Nathaniel King was born circa 1775 in the state of South Carolina according to the statement of his sons, William Riley King (B 1803) and Nathaniel King (B 1808) in the 1880 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee.
Family traditions indicate that Nathaniel King was a son of Revolutionary War soldier, William King, but no proof has been found.
